Premier League Transfer Cock Up’s Of 2012 – 2013

Now most of us have played Football Manager but for those that haven’t it’s basically a managerial football game in which you have to assemble a competent team through loans and permanent transfers. Some times however whilst acquiring the services of your desired choice there are contract term problems leading to the deal sometimes collapsing. (it’s kind of like going shopping without enough money) This season has been no exception although small in the number of bundled deals here’s a couple high-profile cock up’s.

Michale Dawson

Michael Dawson

After accepting a £9 million bid from QPR it was quite obvious that AVB didn’t fancy the centre back and jumped at the chance to off load him. Funny enough though seems that Michael Dawson didn’t fancy West London either, subsequently Mr Dawson probably demanded something like £200 k a week thus insuring the collapse of the deal. Imagine AVB’s face when he saw Dawson at training  (what are you doing here? I thought we got rid of you!) lol

Dimitar Berbatov

Right this one is hilarious apparently a deal was done on Wednesday in the region of £4 million pounds between Man U and Fiorentina for the centre forward. In a statement published on the Fiorentina website it emerged that Berbatov and his agent were due to arrive in Florence for the first part of his medical but amazingly did not turn up! Even though Fiorentina have already paid a first installment to Man U and paid for the flight for Berbatov and his agent. At the time Fiorentina accused Juventus of hijacking the deal, well if they did they didn’t do a good job as it now looks like Fulham is the preferred destination.

Clint Dempsey

Clint Dempsey

This situation was described by Fulham manager Martin Jol as embarrassing! On the appointment of Brendan Rodgers at the Kop Dempsey was identified as a potential target but never actually made an official approach. Someone must have forgotten to mention the latter to Dempsey because as a result the player has refused to play for Fulham! Now it has become clear that Liverpool would only make a formal approach after of loading Andy Carroll. Surprise surprise no one wants Carroll so Liverpool are stuck and so is Clint Dempsey, with 24 hours left of the window it looks like Mr Dempsey may have to eat humble pie or face a season in the Premier Reserves League.

Stranded at Whiteheart Lane

This has puzzled me for ages I can’t think of a player who has come through La Masia Academy that’s rubbish! Signed in 2008 from FC Barcelona he has played a shocking 30 games with 3 goals and 3 assists in 4 years, this is a Mexican international and played in the London 2012 Olympic winning team. This to me is a classic example of a Ford KA driver getting behind the wheel of a Lamborghini. And what I mean by that is whoever the coaching staff are there was nothing else they could teach the player! No one can tell me that Aaron Lennon is a better player so this for me will continue to be a mystery. He’s got one year left on his current contract and one day left of the transfer window so let’s see what happens.
