You don’t know what your doing….
Arsene Wenger undoubtedly has been one of the best managers that Arsenal football club has ever had his arrival in 96 was shrouded with uncertainty but he was quick to enforce his revolutionary footballing Philosophy to the premier league. The sheer class of players that donned the famous red white strip under Arsene Wenger in the early part of his reign were truly formidable the passing and movement combined with clinical finishing was a welcomed beacon to the world of the beautiful game. The fantastically entertaining sparring between the powerhouse known as Alex Fergusons Manchester united and Arsene Wengers Arsenal were truly epic battles between the once bitter rivals. The current crop of Arsenal players are well below the bar set by the invincible’s which has saddened the hearts of many supporting faithful’s. I myself am neither a football coach or manager so in all regards I respect the difficulty of sitting in the hot seat and leading a team to success but looking at the vast amount of errors in judgement it has been hard to fathom the nature of the ill advised decisions that have led to a catalogue of blunders.
Let’s look at it objectively the Arsenal scouting system used to unearth plenty of talented players infact to give you a prime example of this when Robin Van Persie was purchased from Feyenoord for a draw dropping 2.1 million he was given the scouting report compiled by the Arsenal scouts it was a very in depth report that detailed a vast amount of intrinsic information on the player. Fast forward to the current day the vast amount of bad buys is a true conundrum I mean with such an advanced scouting system certain players should have never had the privilege of playing for the club namely Squillaci, Chamakh, Santos and Park remain unexplained to say the least. The likes of Andrei Arsharvin is an easily explained scenario Arsharvin on his day is a world beater but the long periods of bad form have effected both his confidence and consistency which has left him a shadow of his former self which further adds to the woes. What’s worst is the amount of flops on the payroll Nicklas Bendtner currently on loan at Juventus has never shown any truth to his claim of being one of the best strikers in the world and with all due respect it would indeed be a major blessing for him to leave the Arsenal set up along with Denilson who has also failed to live up to the clubs ambition.
Another major problem is playing players out of position a tactic that makes no sense and has not brought much success if we look at it the likes of Gervinho who is not a central striker yet he is constantly being played through the middle when he blatantly lacks the attributes of a striker, his decision making is questionable at best and he lacks the killer instinct needed to be a successful striker in the premier league. Lucas Podolski spent most of his Cologne days playing through the middle which has proven to be his most successful position yet he is being played on the left which for a predominately left footed player is not ideal and has impacted on his effectiveness. Another dilemma which I believe will see yet another good player leave the club is Theo Walcott who along with Santi Carzola has been Arsenals best players but the sheer stubbornness of the Arsenal gaffer will see Theo moving on to much greener pastures and with Theo having the highest goal tally in the Arsenal team this would be another blow against the crumbling team.
The real travesty is that we can expect the January window passing without any substantial purchases to strengthen an already depleted squad with the main goal seeming to be making the champions league without a hope of winning the elite competition. Another shocking point was brought to light when the commercial officer Tom Fox released a statement stating that it was not necessary for the club to win trophies which didn’t bode well with the fans at all. Stewart Robson came out with a very bold statement brandishing Arsene Wenger a dictator and further to that comment also stated that he should have left four years ago . All in all the current side need at least four players to maybe galvanised it, it has been ear marked that Arsenal will be pursuing the likes of Klass Huntaleer from Schalke, Wilfred Zaha from Crystal Palace, Pepe Reina from Liverpool and Llorente whether they achieve these purchases remains to be seen. All in all things need to be sorted quickly in order for the rot to stop the re employment of David Dein would be welcomes on all levels the take over by Usmarov would also be appreciated by the fans. Thierry Henry looks like he will be making his third stint with arsenal and has even been approached by Usmarov which was gladly received lets hope that things sort themselves out ASAP.
