This weekend saw the first Love Supreme Jazz Festival in Brighton’s Glynde Place East Sussex in partnership with Jazz FM3 days of music in the sun from friday 5th to sunday the 7th with organised camping & glamping, fun fair, wondering masseuse, music and book stalls. Over 15,000 people attended the festival which is the first of its kind (3 day camping) for nearly 20 years!  with a plethora of upcoming and established musicians from The E.M.E, XTET and Zara Mc Farlane to Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires,  Jools Holland and his Blues Orchestra, Robert Glasper,  Brand New Heavies and Chic featuring Nile Rodgers.

One of the things which notable was the diversity of the crowd from young tots to the more senior members of public which made a nice vibe. Someone had the marvelous idea of having a mini fun fair which seemed to keep everybody happy.

Amongst the stalls was The Grand Marnier Bar which was a nice intimate bar situated within the festival. With a DJ playing a host of Jazz infused/influenced music this was definitely the spot for the cool cats. There were 4 stages for performances The Main Stage, The Arena, The Big Top and The Bandstand. My personal favourite performances came from Robert Glasper, Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires and also the iconic Chic featuring Nile Rodgers. It must also be said that the enigmatic Jools Holland and his Blues Orchestra sent the crowd into rapture with his inclusion of special guests daughter of Jools, Rosie Holland, Rico Rodriguez, Gregory Porter, Louise Marshall, Roland Gift and Ruby Turner.

The camping sites seemed to be well organised with useful stalls like the phone charging stall for any camper who forgot their mobile phone charger. So overall this was a fantastic weekend  with all boxes ticked! Friendly and helpful staff and security contributed to making the whole weekend a pleasant experience.
This was the first Love supreme Jazz Festival  and judging by the success of the event there should be another one next year bigger and better and I will be there!!
